Poika on hiekkalaatikon puutteessa kaivanut takapihan nurmikkoon muutaman pienehkön kuopan ja eilen huomaamattaan astui niistä yhteen ja jalka vääntyi ikävästi. Iltasella jalkaa kolotti ja Perheenäiti laittoi siihen ideal-siteen yöksi. Aamulla jalka oli edelleen kipeän tuntuinen eikä Poika mielellään kävellyt askeltakaan. Niinpä Perheenisä soitti lastenlääkärille, joka sanoi, että jalka on paras mennä kuvauttamaan sairaalaan ja sinne me suuntasimme porukalla.

Odotustilassa oli jonkun verran väkeä odottelemassa. Kävimme tiskillä ilmoittautumassa ja siirryimme odottamaan vuoroamme. Nopeasti pääsimmekin sisään, kun yhdellä kerralla vastaanotolle työntyi yleensä neljä tai viisi ihmistä, puoli sukua oli monella mukana. Lääkäri tunnusteli Pojan jalan ja lähetti röntgenkuvaan. Siellä lääkäri oli selvästi autourheilumiehiä, kun heti kättelyssä luetteli Häkkiset, Räikköset ja Timo Mäkiset!

Pojan jalasta otettiin kuvat ja pienen odottelun jälkeen veimme ne takaisin ensiapuun, odotimme taas pienen hetken ja pääsimme vastaanotolle uudestaan. Luita ei ollut poikki, mutta hoitaja kävi kietaisemassa jalkaan liimasiteen tueksi muutamaksi päiväksi sekä neuvottiin laittamaan jalkaan kylmää ja antamaan tarvittaessa särkylääkettä. Katsotaan josko Poika jo huomenna pääsisi kouluun edes puoleksi päiväksi, jos käveleminen sujuu.

Viikonloppuna mittasimme Pojan ja pituutta oli 101,5 cm.

As we don't have a sand pit for Little Boy in our garden he has been digging small holes in our lawn instead and yesterday he by accident steped in one of them and hurt his foot. It was hurting in the evening and Mummy put a bandage on it for the night. The foot was still hurting in the morning and Little Boy didn't want to walk at all so Daddy called a pediatrician who told us to go to the hospital to have the foot X-rayed. So off we went all three of us.

There were quite a lot people in the waiting area. We went to see the triage nurse by the counter and sat down to wait for our turn. It didn't take long because when they called someone's name at least four or five people went inside at the same time, half of the family was there with the patients. The doctor took a look at Little Boy's foot and sent him for an X-ray. The radiologist was clearly interested in motor sports as after meeting us the first thing he said was "Häkkinen, Räikkönen and Timo Mäkinen" (Finnish formula one and racing car drivers). 

Little Boy's foot was X-rayed and after a short wait we took the pictures back to the Emergency Department, waited for a little while and were asked back inside. No broken bones but a nurse put a sticky bandage on Little Boy's foot and we were told to put something cold on it and give him painkillers if the foot hurts. We'll see if Little Boy can walk and go back to school tomorrow.

We measured Little Boy during the weekend and his is now 101,5 cm.
