Vettä on satanut jo reilun viikon, enemmän tai vähemmän kaatamalla lähes taukoamatta. Tänään sade on ollut varsin rankkaa aamusta alkaen ja iltahämärissä ikkunaluukkuja sulkiessaan Perheenäiti huomasi keittiön ikkunan puolella nurmikolle ja osittain laatoitukselle ilmestyneen suuren lammikon ja mietti ohimennen, mahtaakohan se pyrkiä sisälle...

Perheenisä piipahti yhdeksän aikaan kellarissa pesukonehuoneessa katsomassa, että ilmankuivaaja on päällä ja löysi tulvan - sadevesi lirisi sisälle ikkunanraoista. Onneksi talon ainoa lattiakaivo on juuri pesukonehuoneen lattiassa ja Perheenisä huomasi tilanteen riittävän ajoissa, joten isompia vahinkoja ei päässyt syntymään. Hollannissa asuimme merestä vallatulla alueella jokusen metrin merenpinnan alapuolella, mutta selvisimme sieltä ilman vesivahinkoja. Täällä Alppien rinteillä vesi hätistelee meitä jo toisen kerran tänä vuonna!

It has been raining over a week, more a less pouring almost without any break. Today the rain has been very heavy since morning and late afternoon when Mummy was closing the window shutters she noticed on the kitchen side a large puddle on the lawn and was wondering if it was going to try to get inside the house...

Daddy went downstairs in the cellar around nine o'clock to check that the dehumidifier was working and found a flood - rainwater rippled inside by the window slits. Luckily the only floor drain in the house is just in that room and Daddy noticed the situation early enough so the damage wasn't too bad. In Holland we lived on land which was claimed from the sea a few meter below the sea level but we never had any problems with flooding. Here by the Alps it is already a second time this year we encounter a watery problem!

Veden pinnan taso näkyy ikkunassa tummana raitana, vesi on jo hieman laskenut siitä mitä se oli enimmillään. Vasemmassa alakulmassa näkyy lirisevä vesi ja oikealta puolelta se valui pitkin seinää, onneksi suurimmaksi osaksi alla olevaan lavuaariin.

The water level can be seen on the window as a dark stripe, the water has already come down from what it was at the highest. On the left you can see the water rippling and on the right side it was streaming down the wall, luckily mostly down the sink which is under the window.

Kellarikerroksen ikkunat ovat huoneiden yläosassa. Ulkopuolelta näyttää tällaiselta, ikkunat ovat tuollaisen kuilun pohjalla. Kolon päällä on ritilä ja siellä pohjalla tietysti viemäriaukko, mutta se oli mennyt tukkoon. Kaatosateella nurmikolle kertyi iso lammikko ja lopulta vesi nousi kuilun reunan yli ja sieltä sisälle.

The windows on the cellar rooms are located at the top of the room. Outside it looks like this, the windows are at the bottom of these shafts. There is a grid on top and a drain hole at the bottom but is was blocked. In the pouring rain the water accumulated on the lawn and finally went over the shaft edge and inside.
