Maanantai
Sade alkoi reilu viikko sitten vappuaattoiltana ja sen jälkeen vettä tulikin viikon ajan joka päivä, välillä kaatamalla ja kaiken aikaa ainakin tihkuamalla. Kun lauantai aamu valkeni yllättäen ilman sadetta ja sininen taivaskin pilkahteli pilvien välistä, oli sopiva aika tehdä vähän pihapuuhia.

Monday
It started to rain about a week ago on the evening of the last day of April and after that it kept raining for a week every day, more or less pouring down. When Saturday morning dawned without any rain and we saw occasionally the blue sky amongst the clouds it was time to go out in the garden.

Sateella huomasimme, että etu- ja takaterassille muodostui isot lätäköt, vettä valui jostain rännin ohi. Niinpä Perheenisä sonnustauti kumihansikkaisiin ja jo paremmat ajat nähneeseen työtakkiinsa ja kiipesi katolle puhdistamaan vesikouruja.
When it was raining we noticed big puddles forming on the front and back terraces, the water was leaking somewhere by the gutters. So Daddy put on his yellow rubber gloves and not-so-new work coat and climbed on the roof to clean the rainpipes.

Kattoja, ja rännejä, on kolmessa tasossa. Tuohon alimmalle pääsee helposti makuuhuoneen parvekkeelta (näkyy ylemmässä kuvassa oikealla) ja keskimmäisen katon rännit voi pitkä mies puhdistaa alemmalla katolla seisten, mutta tuonne ihan ylös ei ole menemistä ilman turvaköysiä, pudotusta on koko talon mitta ja vielä kellarikerroksenkin verran alapihalle...

We have roofs, and gutters, on three levels. It is easy to get to the lowest roof from the bedroom balcony (on the right on the upper picture) and from there it is relatively easy for a tall man to clean the gutters on the mid-level as well but there is now way to climb on the top roof without any safety ropes, it is a long drop to the yard below...

Perheenisä lähti välillä käymään asioilla ja huomasi lentokyvyttömän linnunpoikasen auton lähellä. Ilmeisesti emo oli työntänyt poikaset pesästä maailmalle, mutta ilmaa ei ollut riittävästi siipien alle ja tämä pikkuinen päätyi maahan alapihamme perälle.
When Daddy went to do some shopping he noticed a little bird which couldn't not fly on the ground by our car. Most probably the mummy bird had decided it was time for the youngsters to leave the nest but there hadn't been enough air beneth this one's wings and it ended up on the ground on our yard.

Näimme kuinka emolintu lenteli lähistöllä ja kutsui poikastaan, joka kovasti koitti räpistellä seinää ylöspäin siinä onnistumatta. Annoimme poikasen olla rauhassa ja siellä se kökötti samassa paikassa koko eilisen päivän ja tänään aamulla oli saanut kaverin seurakseen. Ilmeisesti emo ruokkii niitä ja nyt vain toivomme, etteivät naapurustossa liikkuvat kissat nappaa niitä ennen kuin ne oppivat lentämään - niin kuin lienee käynyt jo yhdelle, joka makasi kuolleena naapurin portailla lauantaina.

We saw how the mommy bird was flying around and calling for her little one who anxiously tried to flap its wings and get up the wall without success. We left the little bird alone and there it was on the same spot the whole day yesterday and this morning there was another little bird with the first one. The mommy bird evidently is feeding them on the ground and now we are just hoping that the neighbourhood cat's won't get them before they learn to fly - we already found one dead baby bird on our neighbour's steps on Saturday.

Aurinkoinen päivä innosti Pojan keittelemään taikajuomaa. Puutarhasta löytyikin paljon aineksia liemeen, jolla kuuleman mukaan karkotetaan kaikenlaisia ötököitä.

The sunny day inspired Boy to make some potion. He found many ingredients for his broth which had powers to drive away all kinds of bugs.

Tässä Poika väijyy muurahaisia etukuistilla. Ja niitä riittää tänä keväänä, ihan sisällekin asti!

Here Boy is looking for ants. And there are plenty of them this spring, we have them inside the house as well!

Aurinko paistoi vielä sunnuntaiaamunakin. Tässä Poika syö kakkua jäätelön ja perunalastujen keran sänkyyn tarjotulla äitienpäiväaamiaisella.

The sun was still shining on Sunday morning. Here Boy is having some cake with icecream and crisps as a part of Mother's Day breakfast served in bed.

Sen jälkeen olikin mukava pötkähtää hetkeksi peiton alle jänö kainalossa.

After that is was nice to cuddle up with the rabbit under the duvet for a little while.

Kaunista ei kuitenkaan riittänyt kovin pitkään. Sade alkoi eilen iltapäivällä ja sääennuste lupaa jölleen samanlaista koko viikoksi.

The weather didn't stay good for too long. It started to rain again yesterday afternoon and the forecast is predicting again rain for the whole week.
